Uniform Frock Coat

Modelled on c. 1900 Russian teacher’s uniform coat.

Navy wool, velvet, linen and hair canvas. Partly interlined with muslin to give body.

Made for a production of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters, modelled on an Imperial Russian teacher’s uniform. Velvet top collar, machine-stitched under collar, hand-sewn linings, countersunk shank buttons. Lapel canvas covered with lining to prevent pad stitching from showing through facings. Facings applied by machine, sleeves set by hand. Hip pads and hand-made shoulder pads to improve period silhouette.
